To say that Tishamingo is hot within the jam band scene right now is an
understatement: a nomination for “Best New Band” at the 2005 Jammy Awards in
New York City, two trips on the Jam Cruise. They recently finished their second tour
of Europe, playing Italy, Switzerland and Austria, sharing the bill with the likes of
B.B. King and Robert Cray. They played to a packed tent at Bonnaroo this year,
despite being in the same time slot as Radiohead. In early January, they are headed
out with longtime heroes Lynyrd Skynyrd on their inaugural “Gimme Three Days” cruise.
“The Athens, GA-based outfit has been on the road growing musically and expanding its audience consistently. They’ve played the Bonnaroo festival, toured Europe, and will join Lynryd Skynryd’s Gimmie Three Days cruise in January 2007. The band’s highly anticipated new CD produced by John Kurzweg (Puddle of Mudd, Creed) is now complete and slated for a late January release.”
- Jimmy Leslie, GUITAR PLAYER Magazine (from Guitar Player Magazine Presents: Tishamingo)
“Friday kicked off with Tallahassee’s Tishamingo delivering their bluesy southern rock to the stage. Falling somewhere between Big Head Todd & the Monsters and Galactic, their hour set got the crowd moving. As the heat started to sway towards cooling night time temperatures, they offered a rousing version of The Band’s "Chest Fever." Tishamingo is on the rise - their spot on the upcoming Bonnaroo lineup should solidify that...”
Channeling such Southern rock giants as Skynyrd and the Allmans, the members of Georgia-based Tishamingo dish out thick bluesy guitar riffs, bourbon-breath vocals, and chunky beefsteak rhythms. Throw it on the next time you feel red-eyed and rowdy.
Also hailing from Georgia is Athens-based Tishamingo. From their original arrangements to the popular covers they spin with the Tishamingo twist, the four members of the band create a musical fusion of old-school Southern Rock, blues, and modern rock-and-roll topped with a splash of funk.
